“A lot of the time when people are talking about the homeless, say they’ve gotta be fed. And that’s all. There’s more to it than that”
The Footpath Library makes literacy accessible to homeless and disadvantaged members of society in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane. Books for the library are selected to cater for the people’s interests. They don’t have to return them, which benefits the kids a lot. This library helps people get out of their bad cycles and gives them knowledge and power.
It’s not just about the books either: The Footpath Library provides coffee, tea, and a valuable opportunity for homeless people to socialise with each other.
We can volunteer or offer to donate books. Check out the link for more info!
